How to make an AI video from one prompt

A short AI video can start with a single sentence. You write what you want to see, pick a model, and Create Video turns the description into a clip. This guide walks through what to write, what to set, and how to get a better second try.

What "one prompt" really means

A prompt is just a written description of the clip. You do not need a script, a storyboard or any footage. In Create Video you type the description, choose a model, and press Generate. The model returns a short clip that follows your words as closely as it can.

Models differ in style, motion and the settings they offer. The model list starts with Create Video and also includes Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Wan 3.0, MiniMax H3, Grok Imagine Video and FLUX.3 Video, each under its own name. Some of these come in more than one version, such as separate Kling 3.0 text and image models. You can run the same prompt on another model and see which one fits your idea.

What to put in a good prompt

Clear prompts tend to give clearer clips. Cover five things in a sentence or two:

  • The subject: who or what is in the shot.
  • The action: what moves or changes.
  • The setting: where it happens.
  • The camera: steady, slow push in, wide, close up.
  • The light: warm window light, dim kitchen, bright midday.

Here is an example: "A chef plates a dessert in a dim restaurant kitchen. Overhead light catches steam rising off the plate as a hand sets down a spoon and steps back out of frame, camera holding steady on the final plate."

Notice what it leaves out. It does not ask for five scenes or a long story. A short clip works best when it holds one moment.

Make your first clip

  1. Open Create Video and choose the Text to Video tab.
  2. Write your prompt in the prompt box. Keep it to one moment.
  3. Open the Model row and pick a model from the list.
  4. Set Res., Ratio and Duration. You only get choices that the model you picked offers. When a model sets one of them by itself, that chip shows Default and is locked.
  5. If you see a Sound switch, turn it on or off. Only models that can make sound show it.
  6. Choose a Batch size of 1 to 4 clips.
  7. Check the credit cost on the Generate button, then press Generate.
  8. Watch the result appear on the right, and use Download on the clip you like.

Batch size lets you ask for up to four clips in one run. That is a quick way to see how much one prompt can vary. Each clip is its own request, so the cost is the single price times the number of clips.

How to improve the second try

Rarely does the first clip land perfectly. Change one thing at a time so you can tell what helped.

  • If the motion is wrong, describe the action in plainer words. Say "slowly turns her head" instead of "dynamic movement".
  • If the look is off, add a light or camera note.
  • If it is close but not right, switch models and run the same prompt again. There is no side by side view, so you compare by running one after the other.
  • If the clip needs a specific picture to start from, use the Image to Video tab instead and add a Start frame.

Each run makes one new clip. If you want a longer piece, make several clips and join them in a video editor.

What it costs

Create has paid plans only, and each plan includes a monthly amount of credits. A flagship video clip of 5 seconds is about 186 credits, and the exact number for your settings shows on the Generate button before you start. The Basic plan includes 1,000 credits a month. A failed generation is not charged. The full plan list is on the pricing page.

Try it

Open Create Video and write your first prompt. If you want to plan several shots as pictures first, the Storyboard Generator turns a script into scenes. For more detail on the video feature, see the AI Video Generator page.

FAQ

Can I make a video from a text prompt alone?

Yes. On the Text to Video tab you describe the clip and press Generate. No footage or image is needed.

How long can the clip be?

It depends on the model. The screen shows the lengths each model offers before you generate. For example, the Create Video model lists 5, 8, 10 or 15 seconds.

Will the video have sound?

On models that make sound with the picture, such as Create Video, Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0, a Sound switch lets you turn it on or off. Other models do not show the switch, so do not count on sound from them.
