What credits are and how they work
Every image, video and upscale you make in Create uses credits. Credits are simply the unit we use to price a generation, so a small image costs little and a long video costs more. This guide explains what credits are, how much each plan includes, and what to do when you need more.
What a credit pays for
Each generation uses credits from your plan's monthly allowance. How many credits a generation costs depends on the tool, the model and the settings you choose. A fast, small image model costs far less than a flagship video model. On models that let you pick a clip length or a size, a longer clip or a larger size can cost more.
You do not have to guess. The price of what you have picked shows on the Generate button before you start, so you always see the cost first.
As a rough guide, a flagship image at standard size is about 22 credits and a flagship video clip of 5 seconds is about 186 credits.
What each plan includes
Create has paid plans only. Every plan includes all the tools. The only differences are the price and the number of credits each month.
| Plan | Per month | Credits per month | Billed yearly, per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $12 | 1,000 | $9.60 |
| Pro | $35 | 3,200 | $28 |
| Max | $90 | 9,000 | $72 |
| Business | $200 | 22,000 | $160 |
Paying yearly saves 20% on the monthly price. Each plan is for one person on one account.
What that buys
Using the flagship models as a yardstick (videos here are 5 second clips), the monthly credits cover roughly this much if you spend them all on one kind of item:
- Basic: about 45 images or 5 videos.
- Pro: about 145 images or 17 videos.
- Max: about 409 images or 48 videos.
- Business: about 1,000 images or 118 videos.
You can mix them. Smaller models cost fewer credits, so the same plan stretches further if you draft on a fast model first and switch to a flagship model once you like the direction.
How the monthly window works
Plan credits renew over a rolling 30 days. The app adds up what you spent in the last 30 days and will not start a new job if it would take you past your plan's credits. Unused plan credits do not carry over, so there is no stockpile to manage.
What happens when something fails
A failed generation is not charged. If a job does not produce a result, it does not use your credits. Used credits are not refundable. The refund and cancellation rules are on the refunds page.
What if you run out
You have three choices:
- Move up to a bigger plan.
- Wait for your plan credits to renew.
- Buy a one-time top-up pack on your Account page, under Top up credits.
The top-up packs are:
- 500 credits for $7.
- 2,000 credits for $25.
- 6,000 credits for $69.
Top-up credits are used after your monthly credits. They do not renew, and they expire 12 months after you buy them. Packs cost a little more per credit than the plans, so if you run out often, a bigger plan is usually the better deal.
Tips to make credits last
- Draft on a fast, small model, then repeat the best idea on a flagship model.
- Ask for fewer clips per run while you are still testing a prompt. Each clip is its own request.
- Check the cost on the Generate button before you press it.
- Saving a Character does not use credits, so set one up before you start a series.
- Check your use any time: open your Account page and choose Usage.
